The Alabo Street Wharf Project for the Board of Commissioners of the Port of New Orleans includes a 3 berth, 340,000 square feet, pile supported concrete wharf; a 122,000 square foot transit shed; 7 acres of upland storage; 4,000 linear feet of railroad; and supporting site utilities. The transit shed has a twenty-eight foot eave height, forty foot wide doors on the front for containers, and dock levelers at a truck/rail dock. The rail extends to the wharf face in front of the transit shed. The total cost including material procurement was $32 Million. At the time of its construction it was the Port of New Orleans largest terminal.
